Manipal : Dr. Karunakar A Kotegar, Professor & Head in Department of Computer Applications, Manipal Institute of Technology is appointed as a Syndicate Member of Mangalore University for three years by Hon.Governor of Karnataka.

Dr. Kotegar is a versatile scholar with an accomplished interest in academics, research and collaboration. 

Dr. Kotegar is a versatile scholar with an accomplished interest in academics, research and collaboration. He has a teaching and research career of around 22 years. He was awarded with the Best Teacher Award at MIT, Manipal, Invention Award from Intellectual Ventures, and best paper and poster award at various forums. Further, Dr. Kotegar has a special place in the domain of research and collaboration efforts. He is the Fulbright and DAAD scholar apart from being a senior member of IEEE Mangalore Chapter. After his doctoral studies in the field of Computer Applications,  he completed 16-months of Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Ireland. He has more than 50 publications in International indexed journals and Conferences. He has guided two PhDs and seven research scholars are pursuing Ph.D under his supervision. Recently one of his research work has obtained a US patent.

Dr. Kotegar has served as the Deputy Director (International Collaborations) of MAHE. He has frequently been assigned with International Higher Education Assignments by MAHE and visited more than 25 countries.  He has been successful in establishing research collaborations with Saarland University, Leibnitz University Hannover in Germany, and Deakin University, Australia.

Presently, Dr. Kotegar is the Secretary of International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE), an 87-member country International organization headquartered at Belgium.  He is the President of IAESTE India and a faculty advisor for IAESTE and AIESEC chapters of Manipal University.

Dr. Karunakar Kotegar is son of Late B Annappa&SmtSusheela from PaduvariByndoor Taluk. His wife Dr. Anitha H is as a Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at MIT, Manipal.
