Udupi : The Karnataka High court has issued permanent stay order against an industrial land conversion order passed by the Zilla Panchayat President here on January 31, 2020, said Vinay Kumar Sorake, former minister of Karnataka.

Addressing a press meet at Udupi Press Club here on Wednesday, September 23, Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the length of Udyawara village very small which the population below than 12000 people. Presently in this area there are three Fish Products Industries are work in progress. At the time of establish these industries, without the knowledge of adverse affects on the population due to these industries, then Udyavar Gram Panchayat given the permission to open. However, after the establishment of these industries, people understood the large affects on them. Hence, the Gram Panchayat cancelled the permission to run the industries.

Sorake said that one of the entrepreneurs had applied 2017 for converting agricultural land into industrial one for establishes a new industry of fish manufacturing products. This application was discussed in the gram panchayat meeting which resolution was passed to issue no objection certificate to the same.

Later, Udyavar people understood that it will adverse affect to them if the another fish mill industries opens and people protested against the fish mill industry establishment. Then, the gram panchayat once again decided and passed the resolution not to permit any industries. The taluk panchayat opposed to open any industries in Udyawar. But, Zilla Panchayat President ordered land conversion for the industrial purpose on 31.01.2020.

Against the Zilla Panchayat order, under the leadership of Vinay Kumar Sorake and Udyavar Parisar Rakshana Horata Samiti protested on 09.03.2020 and decided to go to the court of law against the order.

Udyavar Gram Panchayat President Sugandhi Shekar in the interest of the people, personally registered a petition in Karnataka High Court.Meanwhile a petition also registered in the name of Udyavar Gram Panchayat and Udyavar Panchayat Development Officer.

The high court considering the both the petitions, issued permanent stay order on August 3, 2020 against the land conversion order of the Zilla Panchayat President.

Sorake said that the Hon’able High Court order is a victory for the Udyavar Gram Panchayat and Udyavar Parisara Horata Samiti.

Vinay Kumar Sorake said that after 45 years, large number of people due to flood suffered lot. The farmers lost their farming, people lost their houses and properties. The government should need to provide suitable compensation for those who lost everything due to flood in the district. BJP government has taking advantage on coronavirus pandemic and indulged in huge scam.

Parisara Rakshana Horata Samiti president Anand, Udyavar Gram Panchayat President Sugandhi Shekar, Gram Panchat member Girish, Lawrence D’Sa and Divakar Secretary of Grameena Congress were present during the press meet.
