An online expo e-power parba-20 for two days from 7th to 8th November

Udupi : This year Power Parba will be organized as ‘e-power parba-20, an online expo on for two days from 7th to 8th November, 2020, on account of present pandemic situation in Udupi.



Addressing a press meet at Udupi Press Club here on Thursday, November 5, Ms Puspa G Rao President of POWER(Platform of Women Entrepreneurs’ Regd, said that POWER  is a not for profit organization based in Udupi district. It is an association of women entrepreneurs’ , women in family business and aspiring women entrepreneurs. This main objectives of this association is to provide a platform for close interaction among women entrepreneurs which will enable mutual learning, collective learning, exposure and fellowship. Started in the year 2009, POWER has significantly been contributing to the development of women entrepreneurs.

She said that they a vision to units various women entrepreneurs from all strata of society through the process of nurturing their skills and by helping them to realize their dreams.

POWER has been organizing marketing fairs on a small scale ever since its inception in 2009 to provide a platform for women and rural folk to market their products to a wider community. In the year 2016, a bigger event was planned as the demand for this marketing fair gained prominence and thus the first edition of POWER PARBA was held which proved to be a major success. This has paved the way for the second and third edition in the year 2018 and January 2020 purely because of demand from the community.


She said that POWER Parba is a festival which celebrates women entrepreneurship. It is festival conceptualized by team POWER which helps budding women entrepreneurs to showcase their products, services and talent to wide businesses in rural and urban areas of Udupi district, women who have a small business establishment, women who want to scale up their enterprise and women whose hobbies can be converted into a source of income.

The main objectives of Parba are to provide a platform for women entrepreneurs to display and sell and thereby promote their products, to bring rural and urban women entrepreneurs under one umbrella, to promote mutual learning, collective learning between the rural and urban entrepreneurs, to create awareness amongst the local community about these women, disseminate marketing, management and technical knowledge, to help women entrepreneurs develop contacts with buyers and networking, marketing of products and display of projects which are owned or co-owned by women, marketing of products from rural and tribal run cottage industries and to help in developing new markets and expand existing markets for these women.

She said that this year power parba will be organized as e-power parba due to pandemic. More than 100 e-stalls are made available for the women entrepreneurs showcase and market their products and services. The e-platform consist of virtual interactive as well as B2C Connectivity and Global reach, e-stalls have been registered for selling textiles, handicrafts, food, jewellery, fashion accessories, textiles, paintings, home décor, cosmetics and many more.

Dr. Gayathri, Event Co-ordinator, Ms Suvarsha Minj, Event secretary, Ms. Suguna Suvarna, Event Treasurer, Ms Renu Jayaram Founder president, Ms. Thara Thimmaiah, Vice president and Ms. Pallavi, Technical Co-ordinator were present during the press meet.
