Christmas Celebrations at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Kallianpur.

Santhekatte, Dec 25, 2020:  Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Kallianpur Christmas, commemorating Birth of Jesus Christ was celebrated with religious fervour and traditional observations, with large number of parishioners, participating in the holy celebrations.

Under the threat of Covid 19 Pandemic, elaborate precautionary measures were in place to keep safe distance, sanitizing and wearing of masks, inside the Church. However, colourful cribs with sparkling lights, beautifully decorated Christmas trees, and carol singing in almost every household added to festivities.

Spacious church was well decorated to welcome baby Jesus, as the Church Choir started singing melodious carols at 6.00 pm. On the eve of Christmas on 24th December, 2020. The High Mass was celebrated by Parish Priest Rev. Dr. Leslie C. DSouza, with Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Steevan Fernandes.

In his well worded homily, he narrated, ‘God became man and lived with us on this earth some 2000 years ago, as he became Saviour and still living with us.  It’s also a festival of love, celebration of light and salvation of human kind’.

In the short cultural program that followed immediately after the Holy Mass, Vicar with other dignitaries and Church leaders cut the Christmas cake and wished each and every parishioner Merry Christmas. ICYM, YCS members gave their thrilling dance performance, while Caroline Menezes compeered the programme to its perfection.

Under the initiatives of Catholic Sabha unit of the Church, students who excelled by their outstanding and exemplary performances and brought glory to the parish, in their respective Board examinations in the previous academic year, 2019-20, were honoured on this occasion with flowers, Certificates and cash prizes, by Parish Priests. Secretary of the Catholic Sabha Archibald Furtado read out the list of recipients.

Rosaricho Gaanch, the parish magazine, published periodically thrice in  a year conducted various competitions to the parishioners and winners were presented with cash prizes while Editor Mrs Hilda Cornelio read out the names of various winners.

Later, Santaclause arrived to entertain the children and adults with his gifts, dance and sweets. Identifying the performer went on to a thrilling finale.

All parishioners were served with Cake and soft drinks and ICYM & YCS lead the whole show, which was concluded at 8.30 pm. Beautiful Crib was the centre f attraction both for children and adults.
