Republic Day Message 2021 – by Dr Sharath K Rao
In the year 1950 on this day of January 26thlengthiest written constitution in the world – Indian Constitution was adopted. On this day 72 years back, Babu Rajendra Prasad became the first president of India. On this day, Indian Parliament started. Seven decades ago on this day Jana Gana Mana Became our national Anthem and Vande Matharam became our national song.
This Gana thanthra Divas is no less than a festival, celebrated in the whole country regardless of cast, creed, religion, political parties and state borders is laced in the flavour of tricolours to convey to the whole world that India is a nation which has unity in diversity.
The republic of India is a very democratic and just nation where each citizen is allowed to choose the leader who deserves to lead the nation. Although there have been many improvements till now, few deteriorations have also come with it, such as unemployment, Illiteracy, pollution, poverty, and so on. All we can do is promise today to solve this type of issues together as people of this nation to make this country one of the best nations in the world.
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought to the fore India’s national character for the entire world to behold and 2020 will be known as a year of internal discovery rather than of external disruption.
Across the world, people have expressed wonder at the way in which Indians, whether poor or rich, young or old, rural or urban, have shown the ability to be responsible, disciplined, focused, law-abiding, patient and composed during a crisis of unprecedented proportions.
Adversity not only builds strength but also brings out our true innate character. This global pandemic has brought to the fore India’s national character for the entire world to behold, as a resilient and united nation.
India emerged as a pharmacy to the world, sending life-saving drugs and medicines far and wide, at the same time ensuring no shortage to our own people. After the pandemic struck, in no time, our COVID warriors rose to the occasion and led India’s fight from the front. Remarkable efforts on a war-footing made India self-sufficient in everything we needed to fight the pandemic.
Problems faced by the country in the year 2020 not just Covid-19, earthquakes, cyclones, locust attack and border face-off. One rarely has heard or seen as many disasters of such magnitude taking place at the same time.
Looking back at 2020 we can say that we have come through quarantines and lockdowns by maintaining social distancing, self-masking, sanitising, despite disruptions and confinements in our personal space. We could give a befitting reply to the Ladakh face off. India has always converted its problems into opportunities. With this in mind, we have to continue our forward march fighting the challenges. If 130 crore Indians will march forward with this feeling, then this year can transform into the year of achievements. We saw the first glimpse of this in the new year in the form of our achievements in Third Test in Sydney and 4th test in Brisbane GABA against Australia
The foundations of a sound education system were built in ancient times, with the setting up of great universities like Nalanda and Takshashila. In India, knowledge has always been considered more valuable than power, fame or riches. In our tradition, educational institutions are respected as temples of learning. We are now in the third decade of the twenty-first century. This will be the decade of the rise of New India and a new generation of Indians. With advances in technology, the young minds of today are better informed and more confident. The idea of world as a large well-knit family, captured in our message of ’Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ makes the ideas and fruits of development to be shared without borders with entire world.
Freedom in the minds
Strength in the words
Pureness in our blood
Pride in our souls
Zeal in our hearts
Let’s salute our India, Jai Hind.
