Udupi : After installation and inauguration of Diocese of Udupi in 2012, one of the long awaited projects of the new diocese Retired Priests Home which is called “Milagres Home” was inaugurated and blessed on 6^th January 2022.

Milagrees Home, retired priests home of the diocese has been built near the Milagres Cathedral in a 88cents of land donated by Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur was inaugurated by Most Rev Dr. Albert D’Souza the retired Archbishop of Agra diocese in the presence of Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo Bishop of Udupi diocese Most Rev Dr. Peter Paul SaldanhaBishop of Mangalore diocese and Aloysious Paul D ‘Souza retired Bishop of Mangalore in the absence of Entrepreneur Ronald Colaco who supposed to be inaugurated.

Bishop Aloysious D’Souza conducted brief prayers service. All the Bishops along with other senior priests blessed the entire premises with the Holy water. Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha blessed the Grotto in the midst of the building Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo blessed the generator and vehicle. Large number of priests of the diocese, volunteers, various churches pastoral council vice-presidents, donors and others were present.

Followed by the felicitation programme was held in the Milagrees Tri-centenary Hall which was presided by Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo. Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha, Retired Archbishop Albert ‘Souza, Retired Bishop Aoysious Pau D’Souza, Very Reev Fr. Valerian Mendonca Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Jeffry Dias and Krishna Devadiga, President of Moodutonse Kallianpur Gram Panchayat were present on the dais.

The programme was began with prayer song by Milagres Cathedral choir team. Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca welcomed the gathering. The present Udupi diocesan Estate Manager Rev Fr. Romeo Lewis presented brief report of the process and progress of retired priests’ home building.

Much awaited project of construction of retired priests home, there are several well-wishers and donors supported the project. In the absence of  donors Ronald Colaco, Rev Fr. Jephrin Monis, Rev Fr. Balthazar Castalino who supported for the project were felicitated to their representatives. After the felicitation, emeritus Bishop Aloysious Paul D’Souza in his brief address said that there has time arrived to establish the home for the retired priests home project and it has the planning of God. For the any diocesan projects need finance to fulfill the goals to important projects and it will borne by the faithful. God will give and grace the donors abundantly to those who donate for the cause.

In his massage Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha said that it would be any Bishops responsibility to take care of retired priests who served their most of the life for the mission of God. By the grace of God, the most important one of the project today inaugurated with the help of donors. God loves the cheerful giver. God will bless abundantly to those who gives for the purpose.

The Architect and Contractor of the Milagres Home for retired priests Mr. Deepak Fernandes was felicitated during the programme. Meanwhile, Rev Fr. Romeo Lewis Diocesan Estate Manager was also felicitated. Rev Fr. Henry Mascarenhas, parish priest of Pamboor who had earlier played important role also felicitated in his absence.

Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo also felicitated by the guests on the dais. In his presidential address Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo said that thanks is a small word but when it comes from the heart filled with gratitude and appreciation it evokes sentiments of joy and happiness for having achieved something absolutely necessary and indispensable due to support generosity an goodwill of donors like you all and due to God’s providence and protection of Our Lady of Miracles.

Krishna Devadiga, Fr. Valerian Mendonca and Jeffry Dias were also felicitated during the occasion. Meanwhile, several donors and well-wishers also honored during the occasion.

Very Rev Fr.Denis D’Sa compered the whole programme of inauguration, blessings and felicitation. Rev Dr. Prakash Anil Castalino senate member proposed vote of thanks. Very Rev Fr. Stany B Lobo Chancelor of Udupi diocese graced on the meal. Large number of inaugural committee were put their hard work for the successful historical programme.
