Udupi: The police have arrested notorious inter-state thieves, including Ajekaru, who were involved in house theft cases.

The arrested have been identified as Dilip Shetty, present Tamil Nadu resident of Shivpur, Hebri taluk, Shanmugam, and Rajan, both residents of Tamil Nadu.

Under the order from Vishnuvardhan, District Superintendent of Police, in order to prevent crimes, a special police team formed in Brahmavar police circle limits headed by Brahmavar Circle Inspector Anantha Padmanabha stopped on suspicion a Santro car at Shediguli, Havanje village on July 29. During the inspection of the car, police found an iron rod that is used to break house doors and also silver jewelry in the car.

Shanmugam alias Dilip Shetty, Shivapura, Hebri used to come from Bangalore with notorious thief (1) Rajan (2) Kutty Vijayan (3) Sajita Varghese in a car using a Santro car and an Omni car and carried out house theft in Hassan, D.K. and Udupi areas.

Rajan has been stealing since the age of 19 and has house burglary cases registered against him in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu states, Chikmagalur 1 Kumta-1 in Karnataka state, Suratkal-4 and Tirudur-4, Pattambi-4, Tharoor-1 in Kerala state, Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu state. -3 cases are registered. A total of 22 cases have been registered against Rajan in Udupi district and he is being held without bail for eight weeks in various stations.

Dilip Shetty has earlier been booked against Arseekere in Hassan, RMC Yard in Bengaluru, Layhout in Nandini and Nagamangala in Mandya for extortion, excise,honey-tap case and assault case in Hebri police station.

When Dilip Shetty and Rajan were interrogated, it was learned that theft of property and gold jewelery had been committed in 2 night theft cases in Brahmavar police station limits, 1 night house theft in Karkala rural police station area and 2 night house theft cases in Ajekaru police station area. The goods of the thieves stashed in Bangalore and Coimbatore have been seized. From Dilip Shetty and Rajan, gold jewelery worth around 13 lakhs, silver jewelery 500 grams worth Rs 20,000/-, a Santro car worth Rs 5 lakhs, an Omni car worth Rs 2 lakhs and assets worth around Rs 20 lakhs were seized and 5 cases of house theft were solved.

Under the direction of SP, Anantha Padmanabha Brahmavar Circle Inspector, Gurunath B Hadimani Brahmavar Station PSI, investigating PSI Muktabai, Kota station PSI Madhu B E., Brahmavar Station probationary PSI Subrahmanya Devadiga, Staff Venkataramana Devadiga, Pravin Shettigar, Mohammed Asmil, Raghavendra Karkada, Nabita, Suresh Babu, Dilip Annappa, Kota Station staff Prasanna, Raghavendra, Dundappa, Gopala Naik and district technical division staff Dinesh took part in the operation.

The Superintendent of Police, Udupi District congratulated the officers and staff who participated in the operation.
