Adoption of Kedambadi Village by St Philomena College Puttur

Puttur December 26: St Philomena College Puttur has adopted the Kedambady village of Puttur Taluk. In the formal program held at Kedambady Grama Panchayath, both parties signed the MoU which will be valid till December 2027.
“This MoU aims to equip and familiarize the primary stakeholders, with the socio-economic dimensions of the rural communities, the status of sustainable use of natural resources, priorities, and innovative efforts of the rural communities for sustainable development and; enable the community for self-help to roll out strategies, methodologies, processes to develop sustainably and create cohesive communities where every individual gets an equal opportunity to realize his/her potential. Through this process, the stakeholders learn and document the ups and downs of the process which can help them in revising strategies for better training and come up with new models of rural development. IQAC, NSS and 35 other functional units of the College will join hands with the Kedambady Grama Panchayath to organise programs for the benefit of people of Kednmady village. This MoU also aims to help our students create awareness on environment, and agriculture, so that they develop love towards nature and also come to know the issues and problems of the villagers” said Rev Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of St Philomena College.
“We are happy that St Philomena College has chosen our village for adoption. Both the satkeholders will join hands and organise programs that create awareness among the people on the accessibility of basic amenities and services and achieving Sustainable Development Goals, to generate awareness on gender issues and social issues like literacy, health & hygiene, sanitation, safe drinking water, livelihood options, etc. and make the village a ‘knowledge hub’ that can attract resources for the development of other villages in its vicinity” Said Mr Rathan Rai Kumbra, the president of Kedambady Grama Panchayath.
“When students work with the community they get the opportunity to mingle with the public. The college will join hands in conducting awareness programs for the public” said Rev Fr. Stany Pinto the Campus Director of the College. Mr Ajith Rai, the Panchayath Development Officer expressed his happiness about the MoU and thanked the authorities for the initiative. Mr Vinayachandra HoD Computer Science, read the MoU and explained the activities that can be performed for the benefit of both stakeholders. Dr A P Radhakrishna, Coordinator IQAC, Mr Bhaskar Rai, the vice-president, Kedambady Grama Panchayath was present on the stage on this occasion. Students of performing arts rendered prayer, Mr Vasudeva, NSS Program Officer welcomed the guests, Mrs Pushpa, NSS Program Officer proposed vote of thanks and the program was compered by Mr Prashanth Rai, Coordinator of Yaksha Kala Kendra of the College. Mr Abhishek Suvarna, Assistant Professor, Dept of Business Administration, Mrs Sunanda Rai Secretary and all the members of Kedambady Grama Panchayath, NSS Unit leaders, Anganawady Teachers and Asha Workers of Kedambady Grama Panchayath were present on this occasion.
