Udupi : At last the demand of the Udupi people on problems facing for small land owners to build a house will be fulfilled. The government has issued an order allowing 10 cents of land or up to 3000 square feet of land in the agricultural zone to those who build residential houses in the agricultural zone within the jurisdiction of the Udupi Urban Development Authority.

Addressing a press meet at Udupi District Pathrica Bhava here on Thursday, January 12, Raghupathy Bhat local MLA said that earlier, the Urban Development Department was given 30 days’ time to receive suggestions and objections from the public to amend the zoning regulations. On 11-01-2023, the government has issued an order allowing the change of zone from agricultural zone to residential zone within the scope of Udupi Urban Development Authority of agricultural zone land up to 10 cents. In this order, 5 cents to 7 cents 45 per cent and 7 cents to 10 cents 35 per cent limit and no limit for agricultural lands under 5 cents.

Due to this order, from now on, those who build residential houses in the agricultural zone up to 10 cents can change the zone from the agricultural zone to the residential zone without going to Bangalore to change the zone at the Udupi Urban Development Authority itself. At present, more than 3 thousand applications have been submitted to the Udupi Urban Development Authority regarding this issue, which will benefit the applicants, he said.

Urban Development Minister Mr. Bhairati Basavaraj promised to take appropriate action when MLA Mr. K. Raghupathi Bhatt, who has continuously tried to address this issue of great demand of the people of Udupi at the departmental level, demanded complete information about this in the session. Also discussed in the government assurances committee meeting about the proposal submitted to the government to amend the zoning regulations under the Udupi Urban Development Authority, a decision was taken to allow 10 cents of land or 3000 sq.
