Udupi : The prelude to the annual parish feast celebrations on Tuesday , January 17 and Wednesday 18^th January, Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur of Udupi diocese celebrated Confraternity Sunday on January 15^th, 2023.

The Holy Eucharistic Solemn mass was con-celebrated by Rev Dr. Roque D’Souza, parish priest of Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte along with Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Rector of the Milagres Cathedral, Rev Fr. Joy Andrade, Asst. parish priest, Very Rev Fr. Denzil Martis, Superior and Vocational Director of Pilar Fathers, Kallianpur, Rev Fr. Xavier Pinto former parish priest of Milagres Church, Kallianpur, Rev Fr. Patrick Fernandes, Chaplain of Ozanum Home for the Aged, Kallianpur, Rev Fr Aloysius Lewis, Rev  Fr. Ronson D’Souza and Rev Fr. Anthony Fernandes native and parishioner priests.

In his beautiful homily Fr. Roque D’Souza pointed out his experience as a priest and the importance of the Holy Eucharist celebration which promotes brotherhood and unity with us. The Eucharist has the great power possible to move the family to love and serve the God with brotherhood, unity which serves the God. The Eucharist is to bring the good news of Jesus to all encountered. The Holy Eucharist is the Sacrament of brotherhood which reconciles us to God in one brotherhood with unity among us and the Eucharist provides the grace to restore unity among all who are members of the Body of Christ.

He said that the faithful are prepared to participate in Holy Eucharistic mass to receive Jesus in Communion rather than watching Holy Mass on TV; they are being formed into Holy temples-sanctuaries of God. The Eucharistic as a Sacrament of Presence will encourage families in brotherhood to reach out to others and to share this Jesus whom they have received. The Eucharist demonstrates its efficacy in the fruits of a new life in the world, in the fruits of holiness and becoming more God-like, that is, in the fruits of eternal life. In this sense, Eucharist is seen as the Sacrament of intense spirituality with brotherhood and unity with one another.

After the weekly announcements at the end the Rector Fr. Valerian Mendonca , Adoration of the Holy Eucharistic Sacrament was performed by the main celebrant Rev Dr. Roque D’Souza. Followed by Adoration, a huge Eucharistic procession was held with devotion and gaiety. The Eucharistic Holy Sacrament was carried on by Fr. Roque D’Souza in a decorated van. The procession culminated at Ozanam Home for the Aged premises, where short prayers were held and blessings of the Holy Sacrament was held. The Confraternity Sunday culminated with brief gratitude words from Rector Fr. Valerian Mendonca.

The Samosas and cold drinks were served to all the participants which were distributed systematically by ICYM members.

The Vespers prayers will be held on Tuesday, 17^th January from 6.55pm onwards. The Annual parish feast will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 18. The feast mass will start from 10.30am.
