Udupi: Pope Benedict XVI promulgated the erection of the new Diocese of Udupi on Monday, July 16 2012 with Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo as its First Bishop. We remain grateful to God for His benevolent providence. The 1.25 lakh laity of the 48 Parishes of the Kallianpur, Karkala, Kundapur, Shirva and Udupi Deaneries with the 58 Diocesan Priests, 20 Religious Priest/Brothers and 225 Religious Sisters of the Udupi District are the beneficiaries of this independent Diocese. We express our gratitude to this Holiness for the gift of Udupi Diocese to us. May the Lord be praised for His generous blessings and Our Lady of Miracles, the Patroness of the New Diocese, for the miraculous intercession!

The New Bishop will take charge of the New Diocese formally at the Installation Ceremony in the Cathedral Premises of Kallianpur on Monday, October 15 2012 at 2.30 PM. The expected participants in the unique ceremony are around 10-12 thousand along with the Nuncio, around 20 Bishops and more than 200 Priest and many more sisters from Udupi, Mangalore and  Shimoga  Dioceses. This will, indeed, be an historical event.

Various Committees have been formed under the leadership of our Bishop. Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’souza, for Physical Arrangements, Reception, Liturgy and Finance as primary among them. The Finance Committee has estimated that about Rupees 15 Lakhs will be required as expenses for the Installation Ceremony, a half of which will be needed for the erection of a metallic pendal.

On behalf of the Finance Committee of the New Bishop’s Installation Ceremony, I appeal to your kind self to lend your helping hand to the project. Those who contribute Rs. 1 lakh and above will be honored by the Nuncio on the day.

8) Publicity, Photographs, Video, Banners = Rs. 1.5 Lakhs
9) Miscellaneous = Rs. 1.5 Lakhs.t
