Media picks photograph of wrong Jacintha Saldanha
The cell phone of 53-year-old Jacintha Saldanha, a resident in Mangalore, has not stopped ringing ever since certain TV channels and websites on Saturday wrongly carried her photograph and passed it off as that of a namesake who died in UK under suspicious circumstances

While Jacintha Saldanha from Mangalore is a housewife, the nurse who died in the UK is a resident of Shirva in Udupi district.
The housewife was so upset that she even approached the police. Last evening, frustrated by the never-ending calls, she posted on Facebook, "To all the wonderful people across the globe, I am very much alive! Though every Local News Channel & Community Web Sites declared OTHERWISE!!! Boundaries Between News & Entertainment Is So Blurred! Thanks & God Bless You All For Your Concern."
She said, "I was very upset after certain sections of the media began carrying my picture since 9 am Saturday. I was bombarded with more than 300 calls. We called the channels and asked them to stop airing my picture. I thought it was all over on Saturday. But I was in for a shock when a few newspapers carried my photograph on Sunday.” The photograph is not even current. It was picked up from one of her albums on Facebook.
“The mediapersons should have at least cross-checked before publishing the photograph. I approached a senior officer from the Mangalore police who made it a point to call all media houses and assured me that a clarification would be carried on Monday.
“My children were very upset. My cousins across the world have asked me to sue the media houses that carried my photograph. Because of this goof-up, the family of the Jacintha who died may unfortunately not be getting all the support and sympathy that they deserve,” she said.
