Kadike/Kemmannu: Cobra found and captured form the house

Kadike/Kemmannu, October 23, 2013: Due to the large scale deforestation all over, the animals which live in dense forest have no other way to feed themselves and venture into the human surroundings in search of food and shelter. These days we come across every now and then about finding such wild animals in the nearby villages and people getting affected by such wild animals.

In an incident at Kadike/Kemmannu a Cobra was found in a house came hunting a kitten. The Cobra had nearly killed the kitten but by the time the household people came out hearing the painful sound of the kitten.  Upon seeing the people and sensing the danger the  Cobra hide behind the coconut’s kept nearby in the house which the household people were unaware until the cobra came out again in search of its unfinished food which was buried by the people. When it came out again the household people noticed it from far and misjudged as King Cobra, got frightened and called the famous snake catcher of Udupi Mr. Gururaj Sanil who arrived on the spot caught the cobra safely and helped  the household people  to breathe a sigh of relief.

Nice narrative and nice photographs by Ajit Karkera. Hat’s off to snake expert Gururaj who handled the snake like a toy.
