Diocese of Udupi to celebrate Festival of Deepavali on 6th November

Udupi : The Committee for Inter-religious Dialogue, Diocese of Udupi and Catholic Sabha Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi will be celebrating Deepavali - festival of lights at the Don Bosco Auditorium here on November 6, said Alphonse D’Costa- Convener of the Programme.

He was addressing the mediapersons at the press club on Monday November 4. Alphonse said that the Bishop of Udupi, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, has great desire to celebrate Deepavali in the temple town with the people from all communities. To celebrate the same, representative from each communities have formed a Committee for inter religious dialogue coming in the purview of Udupi Diocese. In the coming days the committee will celebrate the festivals of all communities to spread love and peace.

Deepavali Celebration-2013 will be inaugurated by Sri Vishweshathirta Swamiji of Pejawar Math by lighting the festive lamp. Sri Lakshmivarathirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Math, Mulana Abdul Rahman of Udyavar Jamia Masjid, CSI Zonal President Fr Goldin Bangera, Fr Fred Mascarenhas, Parish Priest Mother of Sorrows Church will be the Chief Guest. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo will preside over the programme.

Udupi Diocese Inter-religious dialogue commission director Fr William Martis, Nagarika Samithi Udupi president Nithyananda Volakadu, District Wakf board president Budan Bhasa, Catholic Sabha Udupi Unit president Leslie Cornelio were also present.
