Udupi : The Golden Jubilee of the Udupi Chamber of Commerce & Industry celebrated at Town Hall, Ajjarkad here on Friday, 26^th September, 2014. K. V. Prabhu President of Udupi chamber of Commerce and Industry was presided.

The celebration was inaugurated by Vinay Kumar Sorake Minister of Urban Development and district incharge Minister along with other dignitaries of the dais. During in his inaugural speech Vinay Kumar Sorake said that during the time of the first member of parliament Srinivas Mallya there were plenty of development took place specially National Highway establishment, Airport and lot of other development for undivided district. Similar tradition of development now also will take place in the district. There will be plan to open International level Science Centre at Udupi, at the cost of Rs. 123 crores.

Pramod Madwaraj Local MLA, Halady Srinivas Shetty MLA of Kundapur Assembly Constituency, Raghupathy Bhat former local MLA, Tallam R Dwarakanath Senior Vice President of FKCCI Bangalore, Mohammad Ameen President of Mangalore Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Prasadraj Kanchan former President of UCCI, Udupi were present on the dais.

Dr. U. M. Vaidya, A. G. Kodgi and U. K. Raghuvendra Rao were felicitated for their life time achievements by the guests on the dais.

Pramod Madwaraj and other guests were spoke during the occasion. During in his speech R.R. Dwarakanath said that the establishment of the Industrial Estate in Manipal is a miles stone of the chamber. It should always involve in one or the other activities and should prove itself that it is for the benefit of trade, industry and a common man of the society. Udupi is famous for temples and beaches and so lot of scope for tourism development. The chamber should join hands with the tourism department and propose an action plan for the tourism development in the district. The Chamber can very well co – ordinate with Engineering and Medical colleges here which are known for the quality education and conduct Manthan like programmes, Innovative ideals between the students to increase their competitiveness, so that the institutes can give still better citizens to the nation.

Chamber Vice President Krishna Rao Kodancha welcomed the gatherings. Lions former Governor Indrali Jayaker Shetty gave brief achievements of the Chamber. Dr. Vijayaendra Rao compered the programme beautifully with Sanskrit slogans in between.

The members in Udupi Chamber are 400 now and going to increase further days ahead. The fellowship meal was arranged to all the participants during the golden jubilee celebrations of the Udupi Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
