Udupi : With the message of Peace, Love and Understanding Christmas 2014 celebrations organized by Lions Clubs International, Dist 317C in association with Sauhardha Samithi and Catholic Sabha, Mother of Sorrows Church on Wednesday, 17^th December, 2014 at Udupi Church campound.

During in his keynote address Bishop of Udupi Diocese Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo said Christmas celebrated with many parts such of preparation of sweets, stars, cribs and so on. He gave the importance of crib preparation with several meaning. Jesus born in hut and surely there was happiness through the holy family. He compared the Jesus family with present modern family. He called the safe of environment to be protected. Every part of the cribs describes about the family, love, peace and mutual understanding.

The program started with invocation prayer song by choir group of the Udupi church and welcome dance by St. Mary’s English Schools students. Nagesh Kamath welcomed the gatherings. Bishop inaugurated the symbolically by switching the Christmas star. Ln. K. Suresh Prabhu pmif District Governor presided the occasion.

Maulana B. A. Ibrahim SAQAFI, Davangere and Sri Kudi Vasantha Shetty National Awardee Teacher, Vishnumurthi High School were the speakers. During in his address Maulana B. A. Ibrahim said that human beings have become worst than animals in relation with other human beings. He said that no where the hatred and aggression for other religions. The coastal undivided districts called intelligent people but there will be no communal harmony compared to north Karnataka. There could be differences in various religions, but theme will be simple love and understand one another.

Kudi Vashantha Shetty said that in Hindu religion God is one but called in different deities while they are the manifestation of the same God. He gave some of the views in relate to peace, love and understanding with each other religions.

Ln Suresh Prabhu gave his presidential address. Very Rev Fr. Fredrick Mascarenhas Parish Priest of Udupi Church, Ln. D. Shridhar Shenva Vice District Governor, Ln Divakar Shetty Vice District Governor, Ln Lawrence D’Souza Co-ordinator of Christmas Celebration, Alphonse D’Costa Sauhardha Committee udupi, Leslie Cornelio President of Catholic Sabha, Udupi Mallika Shetty and Ln Samuel were present on the dais.

Various cultural programs were held after the stage program, cakes were distributed and fellowship dinner was served to all the participants on part of the celebrations.
