NEW DELHI: The Ryan International Group is hosted the ’World Scholars Cup - India Round’ over December 17 and 18. According to the press statement released by the group, over 500 students from 40 schools across the country will be participating. The World Scholars Cup is an "international team academic tournament with students participating from over 40 countries." The theme for this year is ’A World in Flux’.

 "Students will be provided opportunities to practice team work, to connect to diverse disciplines and discover and display their skills and strengths by participating in events like team debate, persuasive writing, scholars challenge and scholars bowl. During the WSC, subjects like science, literature, arts, history and current affairs will be discussed," says the statement.

 Grace Pinto, managing director, Ryan International Group of Institutions, said, "This event will provide the children ample opportunities to develop team work, research, public speaking, time management and collaboration, in a cross cultural environment that would make the experience unforgettable for a life time." She also said, "Everyone is a scholar within themselves, this platform will allow them to derive more skills and hone their talents."

The students will be felicitated for their performance as overall champions in the junior and senior categories and as best teams for persuasive writing, scholars challenge, team debate and scholar’s bowl. Individual efforts will also be appreciated and six students will be felicitated for "best overall performance by a student". Those who qualify this round with represent the country at the international level.

What it is World Scholars Cup
The World Scholars Cup (www.scholarscup.org) is an International Academic Event for school children held in over 34 countries. It consists of 4 events–Debate, Collaborative Writing, Scholars Bowl and a quiz. This is held in various themes

History, Current Affairs, The Arts, Science, Literature, Special Areas.
The theme for the India Round at Mumbai is “The World Within”
This is held for Juniors (Ages 11 to 14) and Seniors (Ages 15 above).

This has become a highly anticipated event across the countries and is rapidly becoming the benchmark for academic prowess. There are no comparable events of this nature in the country or even out of it. There are several rounds–Satellite, National, Global and Finale. The Finale is held at Yale University every year. (Ryan Group will also host the 2015 Global Round)

All well-known schools send their best and brightest for this as this carries immense prestige amongst the community.

The India Round:
The India Round at Mumbai is being hosted by Ryan International Group of Institutions. Ryan became associated with the WSC last year and was instrumental in bringing WSC to India.

The first ever India round held by Ryan in Delhi in Dec 2012 was a whopping success.Following this, many schools sent their teams to Dubai for the Global Round in 2013.

The India Round this year is being held in Mumbai and promises to be one of the largest ever rounds for WSC.
