Nagamandala (serpent worship) Is Performed  at  Kodial  Mangalore

Moolakere Nagaban Trust (R)  Kodial  and  Sri Nagabrahma Seva Samiti Kodikal have organised "nagamandala seve" at KodiKal  near Mangalore   On Saturday . The seve   organized under the guidance of Kakkunje Vasudeva Acharya from Udupi at Moolakere  Nagabana Kodikal. An estimated 35,000 people are  attend this religious event.

On  Dec   13th  Saturday   night, ’Astapavithra Nagamandala Seva’ programme was performed in a very grand manner here .
From 10-12-2014  religious ritual programs Nagaprathiste,  Bramhakalashabisheka, Mahapooja , Nagadarshna, Ganayaga, Duragahoma Ashleshabali Homa, etc., were performed.

In the 13th Ashtapavithra  Nagamandala  day afternoon, about  thousands  devotees took part in the naga feast.

Under the leadership of Brahmashree M Vishavkumar Joisa  and guidance of vedic scholar Brahamasri Vedamurthy Harikrishna Thantri , various cultural and religious festivities were conducted. Brahmasri Vedamurthy  Nagananda Kakunje  Sri  Vasudeva Acharya  performed the ’Naga Nartana Seve’. Muddur Krishnaprasad Vaidya and team performed the ’Damaru Seve’.’Prasadam’ was distributed on the morning of Sunday Dec 14th,  it is open to all sections of society.

A separate seva samiti comprising elders of the area and others has been set up to oversee the preparations for the event.
Although the nagamandala seve held on Saturday, preparations  started from Wednesday  with the "Haseeruvani horekanike" procession Urwamarigudy Temple  to the venue.

After various early morning rituals, "Ugrana Muhurtha", an important part of the seve,  observed on Wednesday. The rituals  throughout the day and extend until noon on Saturday .

"Maha anna santharpane", a programme of mass feeding, an integral part of the nagamandala seve where thousands of people are attended  12.30 p.m. onwards  Saturday .

Vishvesha Tirtha swamiji of Sri Pejawar Mutt  Udupi , and Sri Vidyaprasanna Tirtha swamiji of Narasimha Subramanya Mutt,  delivered  a religious message at the function in the evening.  Sri Vidyaprasanna Tirtha swamiji  said Nagamandala was one of the “naga aradhana prakaras” (forms of serpent worship) found in coastal Karnataka serpent god will always bless the people who stay near to those who sincerely approach him, This also indicated worship of nature.

Mr.P.Jayarama Bhat Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer  Karnataka Bank presided.  Sri B Nagaraja Shetty, Sri A J Shetty .Ajith Umar Rai Malady ,Pradeepkumar  kalura,M Vishavkumar Joisa,Vedamurthy Harikrishna Thantri, MLA Mohiuddin Bava ,Lakshminarayana Asranna of Sri Kshetra Kateel etc., were present.
