Janardhan Thonse takes charge as Chairman of UUDA

Udupi : Former Zilla Panchayat member from Kallianpur  and Senior Congress leader Janardhan Thonse took charge as the new Chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) on Wednesday, 4th March, 2015. The post remained vacant since four years.

Janardhan Thonse took charge from Pramod Madwaraj local MLA in the absence of Deputy Commissioner.

During the occasion Pramod Madwaraj said that Urban Development Authority should live up to the expectation of the poor  and should corruption free environment. There are 435 applications pending with the authority and should be cleared as soon as possible.  The state government has enforced Akrama Sakrama after the consultation and approval from Karnataka High court and since it comes under the purview of the Urban Development Authority, every effort should be made to reach out to the people. A recommendation has been made to the Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister H. K. Patil regarding 9-11 which is creating hurdles to the people. A recommendation to exclude Udupi district from coming under 9-11 censor has been made to the Minister and he will present his stand in the cabinet for approval.

Speaking with the media persons Janardhan Thonse said that his first aim will be ensure that a corruption free environment is made available to the people. The UDA will ensure that the land for construction of houses will be made available to the poor people coming under the purview of the UUDA. Sincere effort will be made to continue the development projects by taking all the members and public into confidence.

Udupi Municipal Council President Yuvaraj, KSDL Chairperson Veronica Cornelio, Zilla Panchyat member Divakar Kundar, former Zilla Panchayat President Sarsu Bangera, Commissioner of UUDA Manjunath, Councilors of UMC, Zilla and Taluk Panchayat members and others were present during the occasion.

Janardhan Thonse appointed as Chirman of Udupi Urban Development Authority

Udupi : Janardhan Thonse has been appointed as Chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) by Government of Karnataka on Saturday, 28^th February, 2015. Along with him state government has been appointed 16 persons as Chairperson for various Urban Development Authorities as well.

Janardhan Thonse’s  services for the Kallianpur locality was well known. He was the former Zilla Panchayat member of Kallianpur, 12 years President of Kallianpur Panchayat in three durations, former undivided D.K. district Telephone Advisory member, former Mandal Panchayat member, present general secretary of Udupi District Congress Committee, member of several organizations and many more.

He has been active member in congress party since four decades. He heading various committees in various institutions in Kallianpur area.
