Udupi : Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy along with Konkani Manyata Divas Celebration Committee, Udupi will be organize day long literary and cultural celebrations at Sharada Kalyana Mantap, Kunjibettu, Udupi on Thursday 20th August, 2015.

Addressing press meet at Udupi, Amrith Shenoy, Working President of Konkani Manyatha Divas organizing Committee said that in order to strengthening the link between various local languages and in order to develop the Konkani culture, Konkani Manyata divas organized. The organizers want to develop harmony, respect, brotherhood with other communities in the region who speaks Konkani mother language. He also said that Konkani language is included the national language category out of 22 national languages which will be great and in one state of the country Konkani language is their state language.

He further said that the Mangalore University established chair in Konkani language with help of state Kannanda and cultural department and sanctioned Rs. two crores for the development of Konkani language.

The event will be start with colourful  procession at 3 p.m. from Kalsanka Circle to Sharada Kalyana Mantapa, Kunjibettu, Udupi.

The stage programme will be start with various events from different Cultural groups all over Karnataka from 4 p.m. The groups to participate are Shekar Siddhi Group, Yallapura, Rukkayya Gowda group from Swamilapadav, Damodher Karvi and group from Gangolli, Mother Theresa Brass Band Honnavar, Geetha Wagle and group Bantakal and others.

From 5 p.m. stage programme to be followed which was presided by Pramod Madwaraj local M.L.A. Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaav Lobo Bishop of Udupi Diocese, Sri Vinay Kumar Soraka Udupi district in charge Minister and Minister of Urban Development and Oscar Fernandes Rajya Sabha Member will be the chief guests. Roy Castalino President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy will deliver the keynote address.

The second half of the cultural session starts from 7 pm. The teams in and around Udupi will give a brief display of Konkani culture. The teams will be Geetha Shet and group, Kusuma Kamath and group, Balachandra Gavaskar and group, Devdas Kamath and group, Shyla Fernandes and group, Nawayath group.

At this occasion, all the Konkani people who have contributed name and fame are to be honored by the organizing committee.
