Kallianpura, Santhekatte, March 2, 2016: It’s being a nightmare since few days now in Santhekatte/Kallianpura junction to cross the road either way as the previous bus stop is no more into function and new NH 66 road connections has complicated the situation by not providing any underpass or overbridge at this Junction. Buses stop wherever they get space on the highway, so the commuters cross the highway all over the stretch putting their life at risk.
Thousands of School, College students from the nearby institutions crisscross this road daily. The Junction is already overcrowded with lot of traffic and the public from Hoode, Bengre, Kemmannu, Thottam, Kallianpur, Gopalpur , Malpe, Kodavoor entering into the High Way and an underpass or a overbridge is the need of the hour, said Mr. Raghunath, a local trader. There are just 2 traffic constables in this spot to monitor the traffic Movement, but they too are human being, they can’t be made to stand 24 hours in this junction to help the people to cross the highway and control the traffic, explains Mr . Raghu.
One of the local auto drivers who want to stay unanimous said that their association (Tempo, auto union) must take the lead to protest to get some sort of conveniences to the public and also said that elected representatives must be made to stand at this spot to know the difficulties of the common man. He called upon their leaders and the public to wake up before any tragedy strikes this spot.
According to Dinesh Pai, local social worker some of the locals visited the DC to spell out their graveness, but came back empty handed as the DC said it’s too late now and gave the assurance of a overhead footpath for the commuters to walk but what about the aged people, how they will climb this footpath, are we not increasing hardships into their life, asks Mr. Dinesh Pai. I am having the original plan but nothing is happening accordingly, new plan has been not showed to the public, complained Mr. Pai.
According to unconfirmed sources the future bus stop for commuters going towards Kundapur will be near High way Garage (Little away from present Junction) and for people coming from Kundapur will be somewhere near Ashirvad. But, the authorities are tight-lipped. They did not take opinions from locals before chalking out the plan or disclosing the final plan prepared by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Stop and Right poi is not for the National Highway. According to the high way norms interaction and signals not permitted to make the unhindered movement of vehicular traffic from Kashmir to Kanyakumari ....
The highway is Edapally Panvel highway 1276 passing through 3 States .... according to your suggestions supposed every district will have interactions and traffic signal lights, there will be approx more then 5000 unnecessary stops for the long route and logistc vehicles and it would delay their journey for eg from Bangalore to Udupi bus journey will be 48 hours?

Both vehicles and pedestrians must obey the Rules of the road safety. Heavy fines tickets.
Local volunteers as traffic control officers especially during school start and closing time.
Instead of regularising, there is confusion both for the pedestrian and the drivers. Many have voiced their feelings, of no avail the authorities are bent upon to go ahead with their plans. I have been experiencing problems when crossing. Like me there are many whom I see just running for their lives.
It is like jumping from the frying pan to the fire. I thank Mr. Dineshbhai Pai for raising the issue once again.
