BENGALURU: With the revolt against chief minister Siddaramaiah refusing to die down three days after a major revamp of his ministry, Congress high command has finally decided action to defuse the crisis facing the three-year old government.

As part of efforts to mollify the disgruntled ministers, Party sources said the party high command has directed former union minister Oscar Fernandes to hold talks with the rebellious dropped ministers.

On Wednesday, Fernandes is expected to meet Prasad, Ambareesh and Qamrul Islam separately and pacify the sulking leaders. Both Amabreesh and Prasad on Tuesday made it clear that they were not hurt because they were dropped from the ministry but for sending them out unceremoniously.

"Instead of sacking us, the CM or high command could have held talks and asked us to resign. This is not the way to handle leaders who have been in public life for four decades,’’ said Prasad.

Ambareesh also reciprocated similar feelings and decided to go ahead with his stand to resign as MLA while Prasad is still contemplating to follow suit.

Another dropped minister Qamrul Islam Qamarul Islam on Tuesday lambasted senior Congress leaders saying ``BJP will not ensure Congress-mukt Bharat but it is our own some Congress leaders who will ensure Congress-mukt Bharat’’. He also charged senior leaders including Malikarhjuna M Kharge for conspiring to edge him out of the cabinet and sought valid reason from Siddaramaiah for dropping him. ``Kharge’s son Priyank Kharge has been inducted into the cabinet though he was a first-time MLA and it is for everyone to draw the inference on why I could have been dropped as I too hail from the same region,’’ he added. However, he maintained that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had no role to play in his sacking.

Some disgruntled MLAs led by Yeshwantpur MLA S T Somashekar, who were crying injustice to Vokkaliga community and batting for a Vokkaliga to inducted in the lone vacancy of 34-member ministry on Tuesday decided to continue their fight.
