Rotary Shankerpura sponsored Rotaract Club of Subhasnagara Plants Paddy Sapling for a Noble Cause.

Udupi, July 31, 2016: Rotary Shankerpura sponsored Rotarect Club of Subhasnagara is dreaming and aiming high to serve the poor people of their area ever since the formation of the club. Supported by Rotary Club of Shankerpura jointly with Inner Wheel Club of Shankerpura and with the assistance from locals they inaugurated their dream project of Paddy Saplings Plantation on 31st July 2016 at Kunjargiri near Subhasnagara for the fourth consecutive year.

They started this unique project of growing paddy for a common cause called charity.  With a noble purpose in their mind, they approached a Good Samaritan for his barren field for harvest. The field was ploughed and paddy saplings plantation was done jointly with assistance from members Rotary and Inner Club Shankerpura and locals. The processed rice from this yield will be distributed to poor and orphanages.

More than 50 members from Rotaract Club of Subhasnagara, Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Shankerpura led by the presidents of all three clubs got down in the barren field and planted paddy saplings with vigour and enthusiasm

The event was witness by District Rotaract Representative, (DRR), Rtr. Jayaraj, assisted by Rtr. Praveen Poojary, President of Rotaract Subhasnagara, Secretary Rtr. Malini Shetty, Past President Rtr. Praveen Shetty, members and local community. The entire project was supervised by Past District Bulletin Editor Rtr. Chandra Poojary of Rotaract Subhasnagara supported by Shri. Bhuvanesh L Poojary, Past President & member of Kurkal Grama Panchayat and Shri. Mohandas R Shetty, Head Master St. John’s High School. Shankerpura.

The Rotary President Rtn. Anil D’Sa, IPP Rtn. Clifford D’Mello, Past President Rtn. Jerome Rodrigues, Rotaract Chairman Rtn. Daniel Ammanna, IT Officer Rtn. John Rodrigues, Interact Chairman Rtn. Victor Martis and members of Rotary Club, Inner Wheel club, Shankerpura President Ivy D’Souza, Secretary Veena D’ Souza, Past Presidnet Alice Rodrigues, Past Secretary Precilla Quadras and members were present to assist, support and motivate the young Rotaractors.  All of them applauded the Rotaractors for the good work they are doing for the less privileged people of the society.
