Mumbai: Lioness District Installation and Sambhashan held.

Mumbai, August, 2016: Lioness District Installation & Sambhashan... A discourse were 2 rocking events were held at Four Points Vashi, Navi Mumbai on 30th July 2016.

In the first event Ls Ujwala Khobrekar was installed as District President. The club under whose Leadership along with the members did projects for various needs of society worth around Rs. 20 lacs within 30 days starting from 1st July 2016.

Ln Aruna Oswal, International Director, wife of Late Mr Abhey Oswal of Oswal Agro Mills and Oswal Greentech and Ln Subhash Bhalwal Dist.Governor & Ln K J Paul, 2nd VDG & other dignitaries graced this event.

Same day in the evening the second rocking event SAMBHASHAN was held. The Discourse was with Actor Ashutosh Rana, An Avid speaker, and with Dr Vandana Jain, (MD, DNB, MNAMS, FICO, FLVPEI, MBA) specialised surgeon for Cornea, Cataract & Lasik, of Advanced Eye Hospital and Institute, Mumbai.

Actor Ashutosh Rana (meaning Name of Shiva), is an Passionate speaker in Hindi, gave the meaning of different words of Eyes, as called in Hindi, Aankh, Nayan, Netra, Aksh (which Means Kendra) as Lions community is popularly known SIGHT FIRST, all over the globe.

When he asked the members to interact, one from crowd asked if he could speak a dialogue from his films, he said, I will speak rather a chant wherein all the kings from Shivaji , a Maratha warrior to  Maharana Pratap of Mewar, which kept the crowd Enthusiastic, keen and eager and felt they would be Fanatical, rather be Ardent fan of Hindi, though English is spoken in court and other Offices, we will speak in Hindi, in our meetings, said District Governor, Ln Subhash Bhalwal.
 
Dr Jain, who works specially for care of eyes of children, has got a project “NANHE NAYAN”  since many years, which works doing regular checkups of children, where she gave an alarming data of state of affairs, as many don’t wear specs as they feel they don’t need, some are shy to wear, like in China, girls are forbidden from wearing specs as they feel number will increase.  Also spoke about cataract, an avoidable blindness, as also the fact. 6.8 million people have  cornea in one eye, and 1 million people have in both eyes.
She expressed besides eye donation, should have presumed consent like in other countries in Spain, Austria, and Belgium yielding high donor rates. In the United Kingdom organ donation is voluntary and no consent is presumed, whereas in India, it is done only after the next kin agrees of dead person who wants to donate eyes.

Host Ln Rakesh Chaumal, DC: Sight First an Architect, also Builder by profession, passion for social work and golf game, winner of Mercedes Regional golf tournament, said that in Dhristi Yatra starting from 1st july to today, we have done 114 projects benefitting around 25000 people, also tied up with 23 hospitals, wherein cataract surgery is done almost free for very poor, or Rs.1000/- event squint surgery is done in our own Lions Hospital, Koperkhairne.
