Print SVP Kemmannu Unit celebrates Annual Day.
Kemmannu, Sep 2016: St.Vincent da Paul society, Kemmannu unit, celebrated its Annual day on Sunday 18 September 2016.The celebration began with the Sunday mass celebrated by Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves in the morning. Unit members conducted the liturgy of the mass
The unit, which was started in February 1969, has completed 46 years of selfless service to the society. At present 15 men and 4 women are actively involved with the unit and offer their service. The unit has sponsored 7 poor families and provides basic food items to them. It also sponsors’ 2 poor students for their education. Members visit the poor and sick families every week and enquire about their well-being.
After the mass, a function was arranged at the church hall for the donors and well-wishers of SVP. Parish priest Fr. F. Gonsalves, Resident priest Fr,Herald Pereira, SVP President Mr. Vincent Barnes, Secretary Mr. Oswald Rodrigues were present on the dais. Mrs. Maximin Andrade compereed the function. Mr. Oswald Rodrigues presented the Annual accounts.
Chief Guest of the function Sr. Asuntha and Fr. Ferdinand in their address lauded the service by the members and the donors for their support for a good cause.
Special gifts were presented to the adopted families. . Breakfast was served to all those who were present. The function ended with prayers.
