A 12-hour bandh call given by the Save National Highway committee to draw the attention of the government towards bad road conditions, has elicited good response, crippling normal life in Udupi. The bandh applies to Udupi, DK, and UK districts of Karnataka. Movement of heavy vehicles on national highways has come to a standstill. The skies were overshadowed by clouds hence it was scattered showers for the past few days here in Kemmannu. This is an annular eclipse, means the Sun appears as a ring and most of the part gets covered by the Moon’s apparent diameter which appears smaller than that of the Sun.
The eclipse on 15th January 2010 will have the duration of 11mins and 7.7secs and it will be the longest eclipse of this millennium! However, India can experience it for 10mins and 24secs. {Comments 8}
