Christmas, the festival of birth of Jesus was celebrated with traditional enthusiasm and gaiety at Kemmannu and other places on Thursday night. In Kemmannu Fr. Ronald Serrao, Director of SVP, Mangalore diocese along with Fr J B D’Souza, Parish priest and Fr Lancy Saldanha, asst. Parish priest, led the high mass at 7 pm in the evening. Akanksha 2009 Winners of MR BUNT+ MISS BUNT + MRS BUNT-2009
Vikas Shetty was crowned Mr Bunt, while Nikhil Shetty and Rakesh Shetty emerged first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively. Supreetha Shetty bagged Miss Bunt crown with Tejasvi Shetty and Chaitanya Shetty becoming the first and second runner-up, respectively. It was Anitha Prasad Shetty who won the coveted Mrs Bunt while Divya G Shetty and Shreya Shetty providing good competition bagged first and second runner-up prizes, respectively.

Brief Mumbai news with Pictures 25-12-2009 (DECOMMISSIONING – INS BHAVNAGAR)
In a solemn ceremony INS Bhavnagar was decommissioned on 24 Dec 09 at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.
The ship was commissioned at Riga USSR on 27 Apr 79 by Mrs Sheila Gujral, wife of Shri IK Gujral then ambassador of India to USSR. The ship derives her name from the port of Bhavnagar in Jamnagar district of Gujarat. INS Bhavnagar was the fourth ship of the 19th Mine Counter Measure Squadron based at Mumbai and also part of local flotilla.

Jamate Islami Hind Udupi unit Womens Conference report and pictures
The women’s conference of Jamate Islami Hind, organizations, udupi unit was held recently in the Jamiya Mosque. The South Canara District head Mrs. Shameera Jahan attended and spoke during the conference. KEMMANNU FLOWERS DUBAI DONATE RS 25000 TO BISHOPS FLOOD RELIEF FUND
Responding to Mangalore Bishop Rev.Dr.Aloysius Paul’s request to donate generously to the flood relief fund set up to help the affected people of North Karnataka, Kemmannu Flowers members, an association of NRI Kemmannites in Dubai contributed Rs.25,000 towards the relief fund.

ICYM KEMMANNU ORGANIZE BLOOD DONATION CAMP
As a commitment to social cause, ICYM youth from Kemmannu in association with Government District Hospital organized a blood donation camp at St.Philomina’s Higher Primary School. Fr Lancy Saldanha, Assistant parish priest of Kemmannu, inaugurated the camp. Pilgrimage to St. Alphonsa, Blessed Chavara Kerala and other tourist places
We were 45 in number from the different parishes from Bangalore / Mangalore / Goa / Poona. We arrived at Kottayam Railway station on the following noon and proceeded by bus towards the Diocesan Vocation Center which is located just opposite to the shrine. We had our lunch there, had little rest and in the afternoon visited the St.Alphonsa's museum

Tulu/Kannadigas Achivements in Delhi - ICFPA by Ryan International opens to a Grand Colorful beginning in Delhi
Under the theme ‘I can. I will.’ ICFPA will continue its journey as Asia’s biggest festival of performing arts for children. Mr. Kapil Sibal, The Human Resources Development Minister, Govt. of India, along with film maker Mr. Madhur Bhandarkar raised the curtain at the opening ceremony of ICFPA 2009. VANDALS DESECREATE ST.ANTHONYS STATUE AT KOLALGIRI CHURCH
The miscreants damaged St Anthony’s statue at the Kolalgiri Sacrad Heart Church on Monday night. Since the Image is fiber made, only the glass case covering the statue was broken. Parishners noticed the damage when they arrived for the morning mass on Tuesday.

VISHWA TULU SAMMELANO-A JOURNEY INTO THE PAST By Thomas DSouza, Kemmannu
The World Tulu Convention, which kick started on Thursday at Ujire is drawing lakhs of crowd. A seven-member group from Kemmannu, led by Mrs. Veronica Cornelio visited the place on Friday. It was a remarkable sight as we strolled into the Tulu Grama and recollected the days of our childhood.The event has turned into a cultural extravaganza with people from different parts of the country thronging Ujire. Culture, art, exhibitions, food, entertainment etc have created a festive atmosphere here.

On the 1st of December 2009, St.Philomina’s Higher Primary School Kemmannu celebrated its annual day. The day began with hoisting the flag by the Panchayat President Mr.Venkatesh Kundar. The Cubs-Bulbuls welcomed the guest with grand salute and presented their cultural programme. Prizes were distributed to all those who won in co-curricular activities. Change is inevitable - World Tulu Convention from 10 to 13th December 2009
We want to remember our roots. Change is inevitable. You must know how paddy grows. Children should know from where they get flour, bread and fruits. Tuluva is a religion to us. You will find Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Konkanis and Marathis coming together because Tuluva is a religion. When I say religion, it is not in the spiritual sense but as a commonly accepted philosophy and lifestyle. I may be a Muslim or Christian, but I enjoy being a Tuluva. (Dr. Veerendra Hegde.)

The working committee members of kemmannu flowers, UAE had a day out in Zabeel Park, Dubai with their family, friends and Kids on the 4th December 2009. It was just a get together from their busy working schedule and for a better interaction about the future plans and activities.
