Learning how another side of the society lives makes students grow stable and balanced said Dr Vincent Alva, the Principal of the Milagres College addressing a group of students who accompanied him to a migrant workers settlement at Beedinagudde, a suburb at Udupi. He was talking to students in the migrant workers settlement after the students distributed clothes to the settlement dwellers at Beedinagudde. Visiting such an area would broaden one’s horizon of thinking and understanding the immediate next side of the coin he added.
The NSS unit of the college with the active and spontaneous support from IQAC, has organised this drive under the tag ’Uduge’, (meaning the attire). The students worked on the concept for weeks together and materialised the plan in a systematic way.
Ms Rajani, the area municipal councillor was present and appreciated the drive by the students. Mrs Anupama Jogi and Mr Ganesh Nayak, the NSS officers were present. Mr Anil Danthy and Mr Karthik Nayak assisted in the outreach program.
This is a new venture of the college to conscientise or to touch the heart, soul and mind of the students, the concepts that are less spoken about in the classrooms and less experienced in life.
