Udupi: A popular tourist attraction of the area, Jomlu thirtha Falls is about 25 Kms away from Udupi. A right turn from Brahamavar via Petri, Karje Santhekatte, and you reach the falls within an hour. The spot is in the Sita River banks at the Someshwar reserved forest range. In the rainy season one can see this minor falls at its grandeur. The speed of the rushing water is about 30 kmph. The best time of the year to visit the spot is October to December, when the flow of water is moderate.

Enthusiastics  throng to the place even in the rainy season.  Even though, the Tourism department has constructed a good asplated road, the last one km of the approaching road to the falls is muddy and risky to travel in the rainy season. Tourists are well advised to stay off the water, as the current speed is very high. Several people have lost their life, trying to have a swim without life jackets. A list of 15 people, who lost their life, was displayed on the spot, but missing at present.

A good spot to unwind yourself in the weekends and explore the beauty of ‘Mera India’. Watch video of the falls in this website.

Garbage dumping at these spots is a major problem. I have noticed your last article of Kudlu falls two students from Manipal picked up the plastic waste and cleaning the area. They must be recognised. ( Their pictures can be found Travel: Kudlu Theertha Falls - Ramprasad and Ragavendra’s Noble Cause at Kudlu Falls.Kemmannu News Nework, 23-01-2012 04:46:47 album) Please someone find these guys and due credit must go to their noble task. It is an example of building better society with clean environment.

Nice to see you having indulged in the beauty of the nature. If Mr Braan getting free pedicure to his legs from fish we all shall try our whole bare body nibbled by tiny fish it makes pinching sensation! Oh I think the small kid there is in risk he himself put into a hole that is amazing dare devils stunt! I suggest guys you do not try this. chances are you get stuck there and may not be extracted out from this rock! Be careful and don’t try anything like this, so u will not regret latter, it’s too risky.

Small fish: The water was flowing and one of guy was dipping his legs in the flowing water. After being stationary for about 5 minutes similar to guppy fish like started fish therapy (pedicure)~!!!. Thereafter i too tried and had a nice time {feeling "kachaguli"} with a sort of pedicure. This for the information of next on goer’s. Have heard about this kind of therapy for a costly SUM.

Some of the comments regarding water mark on the pictures were too large, yes why we has put watermark in Pictures for copyrights. Many times lot of Photos are copied from Kemmannu.com and past in other site or uploaded in Social Network. Then there no credit for Photographer. He was spend lot of time to take the photo and editors of kemmannu.com to upload site. For the people just right click take photo save and publish source was their name.

The article is worth adding to the "Yeh Mera India" campaign on Discovery Channel. Only point to note is the water mark on the pictures is too large which reduces the beauty of the pictures. Sadanand P. I liked your comments. It is time for us to grow and preserve the beauty of nature and not to act like Monkeys after gulping a few beers.

I am a frequent visitor to these spots, like your Kemman guys who love nature very much that is how we get to know with pictures and articles on Kemmannu.com. Right you said Satish, People young guys bring loads of beer bottles here on an average Sunday there may be about hundreds of bottles gulped and tossed on the rocks as fun by these drunkards. Who not only dance and scream like monkeys but makes more drama when they see some women who come here to enjoy the nature. I do not know why these lads jump tree to tree rock to rock I think these guys need physical work out since our country has only cricket as a game and there aren’t much place to play this game at home they get excited rather I would say filled tummy with nitrogen......... and act like pathogen! God save our crazy lads of Kar-Nataka!

It is believed that the falls was discovered by students of MIT, Manipal about 40 years ago. Many people visit this place, however, the problem s with some young revelers breaking glass bottles on the rocks. Getting into the water for a swim in the winter is very risky because of these glass pieces. Even though the authorities have installed some dust bins, most of the garbage is strewn around. Has the potential to become a popular tourist attraction if taken care.
