Vehicular Overpass at Santhekatte junction : Public meeting held.

Udupi : The public meeting on vehicular overpass at Santhekatte was held to discuss the pros and cons of the proposed overpass and to take suggestions from the public at Mount Rosary Church Hall here on Sunday, October 24.

Vehicular overpass at Santhekatte, Kallianpur has been sanctioned by the central government as per the statement to the media by Minster and District MP Mrs. Shobha Karandlaje last week. To discuss the pros and cons of this proposed overpass and take suggestions from the public the meeting was held today by the concerned public.

Prior to the meeting all the people who involved in the allotment of new overpass to Santhekatte was applauded, Special mention was made to MP Shobha Karandlje and MLA Raguhpathi Bhat.

Some of the suggestions and opinions expressed during the meeting are:

1. It will be easy to get rid of the existing traffic blocks if:

a) The buses going to Kemmannu, Hoode, Kallianpur stop near Kemmannu, Kallianpur Juction turn.
b) The buses going to Kundapaura, Brahmavara, Kolalgiri stop just ahead of the present toilet.
C)The buses which move towards Udupi through the service road stop at Old Jonathan Bakery.
d)The buses travel to Lakshmi Nagar, Malpe to stop in front of GSJ Residential complex.

2. It is suggested to publish the blue map of Santhekatte before starting the overpass construction.

3. To take all the elected members into confidence to work closely to provide highest level of benefits to the public from the construction of this overpass. If any minor changes to the proposal required must be corrected before laying the foundation for the construction.

4. Need to widen and lengthen service roads on either side of the NH 66 was suggested. The present service road is from Santhekatte to Indira Petrol Pump in one side and other side it is from Malpe Road to Santhekatte Juction. It is suggested to extend the service road from KG Road to Ambagilu.

5.Most of the time Police Vehicles on duty are parked on the middle of the road in Santhekatte, opinion was given to inform the police not the keep their vehicle in the middle which blocks the traffic movement and also 0pinion was given to suggest the police to fine the people who park their vehicles on either side of the service roads.

At the end it was decided to put forward today’s meeting minutes to our MLA Mr. Ragupathi Bhat for his approval and implementation. The public who gathered today said they have their confidence that the MLA will respond positively for the opinion expressed by the concerned public from Santhekate for a beautiful and developing Santhekatte.

Kallinapur Gram Panchayat president, former presidents, taluk panchayat member, former Tenkanidiyoor gram panchayat president, various local leaders, local union representatives, and general public from Santhekatte took part and gave their opinions.

Udupi, Oct 23: “Vehicular overpasses have been sanctioned by the central government at Ambalpady and Santhekatte of NH 66. The central government has sanctioned Rs 50 crore for the construction of two vehicular overpasses,” as per Shobha Karandlaje, minister of state for Agriculture and Farmers’ welfare.

To discuss the pros and cons of this proposed overpass and take suggestions from the public who commute through Santhekatte Junction, a public meeting will be held on the 24th October (Sunday) at the Millennium hall of Mount Rosary, Church, Kallianpur.

Primary aim of this meeting is to gather inputs/suggestions for the smooth commuter movement through the junction in the coming years for the benefit of the public.
