Elders Day Celebrated at Kemmannu Church

Kemmannu November 06, Catholic Sabha in association with Family Commission of St. Theresa Church Kemmannu organized Elders day on Sunday, November 06 at Kemmannu Church.

Catholic Sabha/Parish Council sponsored programme began with a high mass celebrated by Fr. Lancy D Souza along with Parish Priest Fr. Victor D Souza

After the mass around 100 elders of the church joined in the church hall for a get together and stage programme, where Dr. Herald Monis, Principal of St. Mary’s College Shirva was the resource person. Mr. Herald dwelled upon the subject of old age and the ways to handle the age related problems of elders and suggested hints to overcome them.

Mr. Leslie Aroza, Director of Family Commission of Udupi Diocese, who spoke on the occasion gave a few important tips to the elders

Fr. Victor also spoke on the occasion and said being among so many elders is one of the happiest feelings of his life

Christine Andrade (99), the Eldest among the lot was honored along with Eldest couples married for longest years, Romel/Rita Fernandes (Married for 59 years) and Camil/Rosy Fernandes (57)

Catholic Sabha President Mrs. Norbert Oliveira was present on the dais. Secretary Mrs. Ida Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Veronica Cornelio and Suzy Fernandes compered the programme.

After a few spot games and prize distribution, the programme concluded with buffet lunch for the gathered. It was a great occasion for everyone as it was a nostalgic for many participants who met after a gap of several years.
