Kallianpur : If there is one field which has seen strides in terms of development and rapid change over the years, it is the field of communication. This area has touched every walk of life and has seen revolutionary instrumentation and applications. It is therefore imperative that we should know the trends in Communication to understand what is in store and what should be done to make it known to all.

Department of Physics, Milagres College Kallianpur, therefore thought it proper to organize a two day UGC sponsored National seminar on the topic “Recent Trends in Communication” on 16th and 17th December 2011, in collaboration with the Association of Physics Teachers of Mangalore University. The Venue for the seminar is the Silver Jubilee Hall, Milagres College Kallianpur.
The Inauguration Ceremony of the Seminar is at 10am on the 16th December 2011. Prof. Lalit Mohan Patnaik, Honorary Prof. Centre for Electronic and Design Techology, Indian Institute of Science and former Vice Chancellor of Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune will inaugurate the National Seminar and will deliver the keynote address. Dr. K V Rao, Director, Pilikula Regional Science centre will be the Guest of honour and the Principal Dr. Nery Cornelio will preside over the function. V. Rev. Fr. Stany B.Lobo, Managing Correspondent, Milagres Institutions will bless the occasion. The Dean of Science Faculty and the President of Association of Physics Teachers of Mangalore University Dr. Gerald Pinto will be present.

Mr. Devadas Shenoy from Satellite Communication Systems, ISRO, Dr. Muralidhar Kulkarni, HOD, and Dr. Sripati Acharya Associate Prof from Dept of electronics and Communication NITK, Surathkal, Mr. Sachin Shirhatti, Director Qualcomm USA and Mr. Lissan Johnson, Engineer from BSNL are the resource persons for the Seminar. Besides, there will be Research presentations by Scholars from Universities and Engineering Colleges all over India. The delegates and students attend the seminar from undergraduate and Engineering Colleges from Karnataka and from other states.
The valedictory function of the Seminar is schedule at 3.00 p.m. on 17th December 2011 Dr. Balakrishna, Chairman, Dept. of Physics, Mangalore University will be the Chief Guest.

Lectures are given on the topics like modes of communication, Digital Communication, Mobile Computing, Mobile Communication, Satellite Communication, Optic Fibre Communication 2G, 3G and Internet, Free space Optics etc in the Seminar by the experts.
The co-ordinator of the Seminar Prof. Archana Dabade from the Dept. of Physics informs that the Seminar is organized for teachers, students and academicians who are involved at different levels in studying the subject.
