Almost all mi­n­isters in the Siddaramaiah government are under­st­ood to have resigned from the various positions they are holding in the Congress party, following a recent direction from the party high comma­n­d to the KPCC to follow the one-man-one-post norm strictly.

As many as 13 ministers are said to have vacated the various party positions in the last few days. The move is aimed at accommodating the party workers. Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi had recently issued a direction to the State party unit in this regard.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy (KPCC general secretary), Forest Minister Ramanath Rai (Mangalore district party president) Infrastructure Development Minister Roshan Baig (KPCC vice president), Health Minister U T Khader (KPCC secretary), Housing Minister M H Ambareesh (KPCC vice president), Medical Education Minister Dr Sharanprakash Patil (Gulbarga district party president) and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao (Bangalore Urban district party president) are among the ministers who have vacated their party positions, party sources said.
 More than one positions

Sources said that a number of party legislators are also holding more than one positions. The party has decided to obtain their resignations for one of the posts in the coming days. Ministers holding more than one positions, one in the party or another in the government, had become a contentious issue in the KPCC. Leaders had not vacated their party positions despite becoming ministers, leading to a lot of discontentment among party workers, the sources said.

This apart, the party and its government in the State have simultaneously taken up the exercise of appointing heads to various boards and corporations of the government. This is also aimed at sharing power with the party workers. The process is likely to be taken up in the second week of October, after Dasara festivities.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and 10 of his ministerial colleagues are scheduled to hold review meetings of their respective departments in Bellary on Monday, as promised by the party to people of the district in the recent byelection to Bellary Rural constituency.

Review of works

Energy Minister D K Shivakumar, who was given the responsibility of leading the party in the Bellary Rural bypoll, had, during the campaign, promised to the electorate that he will make the ministers concerned to come to Bellary and review development works.

KPCC president G Parameshwara and a number of other party leaders will also be visiting the district to participate in a public meeting organised by the party.
