Hon’ble President of India awards eBay India merchants the ‘FIEO Online Retail exporter of the year’

 Anuj Chawla (Gold award) and Abhinav Sharma (Bronze award) benefit from

ebay’s 152 million user base spread across 201 countries

December, 10th 2014:Hon’ble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee awarded two eBay India merchants the ‘FIEO Online Retail exporter of the year,’ at the 14thFIEO Niryat Shree and NiryatBandhuaAwards held last week in New Delhi. The Online Retail Exporter of the Year award has been created and approved by The President’s Office this year.

Mr. Anuj Chawla, owner of Active Industries received the Gold Award while Mr. Abhinav Sharma, promoter of Angaris Exim Ind Pvt Ltd, received the Bronze Award.

The eBay India Online Business Index indicates that the reasons why online retail exporters are excited about the potential of ecommerce are a) interest in international customers & trade (27%); wanting their share of the growing ecommerce market (19%); reaching more potential customers (18%); flexibility of running the business from home (7%) and not needing an offline store (5%)

eBay India has already enabled over 15,000 Indian entrepreneurs to export products to 152 million users from 201 countries around the world. As per ebay’s COMMERCE 3.0 report, commercial merchants based in India sell 48% abroad on an average (by value); whereas amongst traditional firms, even the largest sell only around 30% on an average to international customers. Traditional exporters typically reach customers in only three markets, whereas, an online exporter on eBay India with a low turnover manages to reach customers all over the world.
