Manipal:Mar,5. 9-12th March. The week everyone’s been waiting for! MIT Manipal presents REVELS 2011, the annual cultural festival, revamped and more thrilling than ever before! Action packed and fast paced, Revels 2011 promises to have something for everyone! Revels aims to bring back the verve and the zest by drenching you in colours: this year’s theme is Split the spectrum in you. Hence, Revels 2011 is all about hues, vibrancy and of course the exuberance of youth!

This year, all major college clubs are putting their best foot forward to present and conduct a number of events from a variety of fields, including music, dance, dramatics, arts, sports, business; the list is endless! For those who have an impeccable sense of rhythm or a nightingale’s voice, there are number of musical events including eastern and western solo singing, instrumental music etc. Similarly, dance enthusiasts will have a time of their lives watching skilled and breathtaking dancers perform to catchy and infectious beats. For those who prefer to show their prowess in the intellectual sphere, many activities including quizzing and extempore are wide open for them. Budding Da Vincis and Warhols will also be given a platform to display their skills, views and passions to the world around them.  Apart from this, Revels also offers a large number of crazy, cool and just-for-fun activities including skill games, Informals and x-venture: a myriad collection of adventure sports including wall-rappelling, treasure hunts and much more.

The highlights of Revels are the nightly Mega-events. Battle of the Bands is bigger and “badder” than ever before with over 10 bands performing, guaranteeing a night of intense head banging and even more fun. The fact that the upcoming but very popular Bangalore based band, The Bicycle Days will be headlining this time is the icing on the cake! BoB is followed by the biggest crowd-puller event of the fest: the Fashion Show. Lovely ladies and dashing men all sashay down the ramp, accompanied by the “oohs” and “aahs” of the audience, aiming to enchant and enthral us with their elegance, beauty and splendid attire. The next in line is the one everyone is waiting for- Pro-Night with performances by two of the biggest bands of India today- Them Clones, the Delhi-based alternative rock band who were crowned the “chosen ones” at Channel V- Launch Pad 2005 and have also won many awards after that: and Faridkot- a Delhi-based  extremely popular Hindi rock band. All three bands promise to bring a never-seen-before spectacle to MIT, complete with an external, palpable excitement one can feel through their skin. The fourth and the final night is the biggest night of all- War of the DJ’s. A mega-party, it is extremely fun for frenzied dancing and watching the b the young, dynamic DJ’s in Manipal perform, spinning foot-tapping numbers.
Revels 2011 promises to be a kaleidoscope of diverse and entertaining event, with something for everyone, just like the brilliant colours of the rainbow. So come and be a part of this experience: Revel in this rollercoaster that is life and rejoice in all the beauty and excitement around you!
