The Justice K. S. Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte has undertaken a comprehensive research project with the objective to assess the impact of Shree Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) in Belthangady Taluk. SKDRDP has been in operation in this Taluk during the last 30 years, this is informed in a press release by Prof. K. Ramesh Karnik, the Director of the Institute.
 

SKDRDP has introduced multiple activities to empower the rural poor under the dynamic and dedicated leadership of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmastala. It has attracted the attention of a large number of scholars and researchers both from within and from outside India.
 

Dr. G. V. Joshi, Professor of Economics, JKSHIM & Member, Karnataka State Planning Board is the principal investigator of the research project. He will be assisted by Dr. Sudhir Raj K & Mrs. Suprabha K. R, faculty members at the Institute, Prof. K. R. Karnik informed. The other members of the staff of JKSHIM may also be involved in the project when required. Dr. M. S. Moodithaya, Director of Centre for Global Initiatives, Nitte Education Trust, Dr. N. K. Thingalaya, Chairman Academic Council of JKSHIM, and Dr. N. S. Shetty, Professor Emeritus will be the members of the advisory committee of the research project.
 

The research project of JKSHIM will look into the socio-economic changes that might have taken place in the last 30 years in villages in Belthangady Taluk. It will also record the factors responsible for such a change. Dr. Jaykumar Shetty of Economics Department of SDM College, Ujjire will be the Director of the field work in which the students in the college will be involved.
 

The Study will incorporate the findings of the Ph.D and M.Phil dissertations throwing light on the operation and impact of SKDRDP. These dissertations are submitted to Mangalore University, the press release of Prof. K. R. Karnik adds
