Print 40 bishops from across India to attend; CM, ministers from Kerala govt also expected
All arrangements have been made for episcopal ordination and installation of Mar Antony Kariyil, the Bishop-elect of the diocese of Mandya, at 2 pm at Infant Jesus Cathedral, Hunsur Road, Hinkal on the outskirts of Mysuru, on October 18.
Mar George Njaralakkatt, the Archbishop of Thalassery, will be the principal consecrator for the ceremony while Salvatore Pennacchio, apostolic nuncio to India and Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bengaluru, will be co-consecrators.
More than 40 bishops from different parts of the country are expected to attend the ceremony.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the public function expected to start at 4 pm. Archbishop Bernard Moras, Transport Minister R Ramalinga Reddy, Revenue and District in-charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad, Bishop Thomas Antony Vazhappilly, Auxiliary bishop of Ernakulam - Ankamaly Mar Sebastian Adayanthrath, apostolic visitator Mar Raphael Thattil, Mysuru and Kodagu MP Prathap Simha, MLAs Vasu and G T Devegowda, Bishop of Puthur Geevarghese Mar Divannyasios, Prior General of CMI Paul Achandy and Director General of MST Kurian Ammanathukunnel are also expected take part in the programme.
Ministers from Kerala govt
Besides, ministers from Kerala government, around 5,000 devotees from different states will also take part in the ceremony.
To ensure smooth conduct of the ceremony, different committees have been formed under the leadership of administrator of the diocese George Alukka, CMI general convener Mathew Koikkara and chancellor of the diocese Paul Vazhappilly.
Precautionary measures
As a precautionary measure, a medical team, fire and rescue services etc have been arranged. Vehicle parking has been arranged at Pushkarini School ground as well as the ground adjacent to Aishwarya Petrol Bunk near Vijayanagar, according to Kuriakose Kunnath.
