For the third successive year, Dakshina Kannada district has retained the top slot in terms of overall pass percentage, followed by Udupi district that has retained the second position.

While the overall pass percentage of Dakshina Kannada is 90.48, Udupi has pass percentage of 90.35, this year.

In 2015, Dakshina Kannada district had pass percentage of 92.08 as against 92.32 of Udupi. In 2014, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi had a pass percentage of 93.09 and 92.32 respectively

Mysuru, Hassan and Belagavi districts in the state have improved their performance in the Pre-University Course, the results of which were announced on Wednesday.

Mysuru has improved its performance by securing 11th position this year. The overall pass percentage is 69.61. The district stood in the 15th place last year.

“We are happy that the district’s overall performance in second PUC. In fact, when the district got 15th position last year, it was a jump from the 23rd position the year before,” said K.M. Puttu, Deputy Director of Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE).

Hassan district has secured the 12th position in the state by registering a pass percentage of 65.47. Last year, the district was in the 15th place with pass percentage of 66.64.

Belagavi district, one of the major educational hubs in the state, scaled up by one position and secured 16th position this year. Last year, the district stood at 17th position.

According to the Deputy Director of DPUE, the district slipped from 14th place in 2014 to 17th position in 2015, even though the overall pass percentage had gone up from 58.7 in 2014 to 64.87.

Bidar is one of the districts in the state which has dropped one position in the list of districts ranked according to performance in PUC results. With a pass percentage of 52.07, the district stands 26th among 31 districts in the state. Last year, 64.4 per cent of its students passed, placing the district at the 25th place. The drop in pass percentage is steep at 12 percent.
