New Delhi: The two Spice Jet pilots, who were arrested by the Rajasthan Anti Corruption Bureau on Monday for allegedly fudging their flying hours, have done their pilot training from the Rajasthan Flying School.

CNN-IBN now has details of the flying institute that has been at the forefront of issuing fake flying certificates.

But shockingly, the Rajasthan Flying School had no aircraft, but gave flying hours to pilots till six months. The government-run flying school was closed in 2008 after its only aircraft was grounded.

The state anti-corruption bureau has arrested nine people, including pilots and flying instructors and is on the lookout for eight more pilots who forged flying hours from the school.

The Rajasthan Anti Corruption Bureau now wants the CBI to look into DGCA’s role in money for flying hours scam.

Meanwhile, Anoop Choudhary and Amit Moondra, accused of manipulating their flying records to obtain Commercial Pilot licences, have been sent to 14 days of judicial custody.

"When they were training for their commercial pilots’ license from the Rajasthan Flying School, they fudged their flying hours entries in order to be eligible for the license," said Rajasthan Anti Corruption Bureau AGDP Ajit Singh.

The two arrested pilots have not completed the required 200 hours of flying required to appear in licensing exam. They will be produced before a special court on Wednesday.

"We’ve paid a lot of money to the flying school to get these licenses. We did not understand the details of the transactions. We’ve never failed any skill test in the last four and a half years. We were young when we arrived, we did not understand the scam that was taking place here. This was a government approved institute, shouldn’t we be able to trust the government?" said the arrested pilots.

Director General of Civil Aviation EK Bharat Bhushan orders a special inquiry into corruption in flying schools.

"We have ordered a special audit, independent team of auditors examining these schools in great details trying to plug the loophole. All cases in which pilot has forged the mark sheet when no mark sheet were issued to them," said Bhushan.
