Bihar: Student alleges rape by principal, teacher, 15 students; four arrested so far
Chhapra school teenager alleges rape by principal, two teachers and 15 minor schoolmates over last seven months after being blackmailed with rape video.
A Chhapra teenager has alleged rape by her school principal, two teachers and 15 minor classmates. The victim says she was raped over the last seven months after being blackmailed with a video of the act taken in the school toilet in December 2017. A case was lodged against the accused after the victim found the courage to narrate the incident to her father. The district’s women police station lodged a case against 18 people on Friday evening and later arrested four including the principal.
Saran Superintendent of Police Har Kishore Rai confirmed that a case had been lodged. “A student has lodged a case of rape against 18 people. We have arrested school principal Mukund Singh and a teacher named Balaji and taken into custody two teenaged students. We have been conducting raids to look for the other accused. The girl’s medical examination has been conducted”.
According to the FIR, the victim was gangraped by five minor students inside the school’s toilet and the act was videographed by one of the accused. She was later asked not to complain about the incident either to her family or to the police. But the video was shared among some school students and later also reached the principal and a teacher.
Chhapra woman police station in-charge Indra Rani said, “The girl was sent to us by Ekma police station where she had first gone after slipping away from her school. She complained about how one student after another started blackmailing her by threatening to make her video viral. She alleged the school principal and two teachers, who told her not to go to school to save the prestige of her family and school, had also raped her”.
The girl told the police she had to keep quiet because her father had been away from home for seven months. Her father had gone to her school on Friday. The girl, who had been at the school, was again threatened by teachers and students not to register a case.
A senior police officer said they were waiting for a medical examination report of the girl and would question school students to know more details. “We will also talk to other family members of the girl to know more about the matter”, said the police officer.
