 Congress chief ministers’ swearing-in LIVE updates: Ashok Gehlot takes oath as Rajasthan CM, Sachin is co-pilot

Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh CM oath ceremony LIVE Updates: Congress veteran Ashok Gehlot was sworn in as the chief minister for the third time in Rajasthan Monday. State Congress chief Sachin Pilot was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister. Governor Kalyan Singh administered the oath of office in Jaipur’s Albert Hall. Also present during the swearing-in ceremony were Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje.

Kamal Nath will be sworn in as Madhya Pradesh CM at 1.30 pm today. In Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel will be administered the oath at 5 pm.  The swearing-in ceremonies in Jaipur, Raipur and Bhopal are being seen as a platform to showcase the Opposition unity ahead of the Lok Sabha polls 2019. Among those present in Rajasthan are former prime minister H D Devegowda, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, LJD leader Sharad Yadav, Sharad Pawar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

The Congress has also extended an invitation to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to attend the ceremonies, signalling a possible thaw in ties. TMC supremo and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee will give the event a miss and has instead directed a representative on her behalf to attend. Both BSP chief Mayawati and SP leader Akhilesh Yadav would attend today’s events. The two Uttar Pradesh leaders had extended their respective parties’ support to the Congress after it fell short of a majority in MP and Rajasthan.
