Ravi Poojary’s aim was to escape to Ivory Coast from Senegal!

Mangaluru: Information has come to light that the underworld element Ravi Poojary who is currently incarcerated by Senegal police had arrived to Senegal only 4 months back and was staying there temporarily.

It is being said that if in case he had not gotten trapped in the net drawn by the intelligence officials on Jan 21st, he was planning to escape to Ivory Coast which is close by and go underground completely in the next 15 days.

It is being said that after getting clue that Ravi Poojary will be soon moving to Ivory Coast, another underworld element from Mangaluru Vicky Shetty had created a plan two months back to eliminate him.

Investment in hotels

Ravi Poojary who made his fortune in India by extorting money through death threats and protection money had invested this amount into the hotel industries of countries like Burkina Faso, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Ghana and many similar small countries. His partner in most of his businesses was Anil Agarwal from India. Ravi’s wife Padma too had joined in with him on his business ventures. She too has a fake passport and was hiding in a country in Africa.

Sponsoring a cricket match led to his downfall

Ravi Poojary’s downfall started with his participation in a cricket tournament organised by some people of Indian origin in Senegal. Since many years he was mostly living in Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast and had also opened hotels named “Namaste India” and “Maharaja” at Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast respectively in partnership with Anil Agarwal of India. The clue to Poojary’s whereabouts was found by the intelligence officials only 3 months back. Proper clue was provided by a cricket tournament organised by a few of his associates 5-6 months back.

Ravi Poojary and his supporters had sponsored for the tournament. Separate T-Shirts had been created with slogans “Indian Senegal Cricket Club”. Ravi Poojary had personally distributed the prizes to the winners. The intelligence officials got clue to Ravi through the photographs that were taken during the occasion. After confirming that he was there in the country, the intelligence officials tailed him for 3 months, inform credible sources.
