Bantwal: Three people have been arrested by Punjalakatte police on the charges of illegally transporting beef in an auto rickshaw and the cops have seized the vehicle as well. The arrested are identified as Abdul Razak, Razik and Riyaz, all local residents.
The cops caught accused based on a tip off on definite information regarding illegal slaughter of a cow behind a house in Manjal Palke of Kukkala village of Belthangady taluk and transporting around 60 kg of cow meat in an autorickshaw.
The meat has been seized by the police along with the autorickshaw used for its transportation as well as the equipment used to slaughter the bovine. The total cost of the seized goods is estimated to be around Rs 1.22 lakh.
Punjalakatte police have registered a case in this connection.
