A Sessions court in Alwar acquitted all six accused in Pehlu Khan lynching case. Three other accused are minors and proceedings against them are pending in the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).
Pehlu Khan, 55, and his sons were transporting cows, after purchasing them in a cattle fair in Jaipur, to their hometown in Haryana’s Nuh district, when they were waylaid near Behror by a mob of self-styled cow vigilantes and beaten up on April 1, 2017. Pehlu Khan succumbed to his injuries after two days.
While the Rajasthan Police had registered a case of murder soon after the Haryana resident’s death in April 2017, it was also investigating the cow smuggling charge.
The Ashok Gehlot government faced criticism recently after a charge sheet was filed against Khan’s sons, Irshad and Aarif, and truck operator Khan Mohammad.
