A resident of Diwan Bahadur Shanmugam Street in Kilpauk, Abdul Hafiz said the theft took place on Saturday morning when he was at home and the main door was locked.
The secretariat police station in Chennai received a bizarre complaint last week. Abdul Hafiz, a businessman, lodged a complaint with the police on at least 10 pairs of missing footwear worth Rs 60,000. In the complaint, Abdul Hafiz has said that the footwear got stolen from his house.
Abdul Hafiz said the shoes were branded and were kept in the front porch of his residence.
A resident of Diwan Bahadur Shanmugam Street in Kilpauk, Abdul Hafiz said the theft took place on Saturday morning when he was at home and the main door was locked.
While he saw the footwear when he entered the house, they were missing when he came out an hour later.
He informed the police that the lot also had sandals. He formally lodged a complaint on Saturday night and said he suspected his neighbours -- a group of youngsters and his domestic help -- for the theft.
Police are yet to begin the investigation in the case. They are expected to question the neighbours and the domestic help on Monday. Police are also looking at the CCTV footage from the area for further clues.
