Print LUCKNOW: Passengers of an Air India flight from Mumbai had a narrow escape after the aircraft’s tyre burst at the time of touchdown at Amausi airport here on Monday.
The Varanasi-bound flight IC-195 landed at Amausi at 11.30am with a loud noise. It later turned out that one of the eight tyres on the left side of the plane had burst.
The aircraft had 121 passengers and four crew. While the 44 Lucknow-bound passengers deplaned and checked out, the 77 Varanasi-bound passengers created a ruckus demanding an alternative flight for their onward journey. The airline offered them taxis instead. Angry passengers turned down the offer, forcing the airline to replace the damaged tyre. The flight eventually left for Varanasi at 3.40pm. tnn
