Nearly 6 lakh to appear for II PU exams

Print As many as 5.96 lakh students will appear for the II PU examinations at 923 centres across the State beginning Thursday.
Among the students writing the exam, 3,20,869 are boys and 2,75,870 are girls.
Just two days ahead of the examination, students in the City were seen engaged in hectic revision of subjects.
When asked about the last minute preparation, Srinidhi R, a student of Vijaya Composite College, said he would dedicate a large part of his revision to mathematics, as he found the subject tough.
Srinidhi, who has been solving question papers of the past 15 years, aims to be an engineer.
“I always jot down whatever I learn, as I find that to be an effective method to remember,” he said.
While Srinidhi has reduced his sleep to a mere four hours, Navneet Subramanya, a student of Vijaya PU College has been revising systematically for the past two months.
“As the day of examination approaches, I shall focus on diagrams and formulae,” he added.
Tricky part
“The most tricky part of the examination are the one-mark questions. To get all those questions right, one has to have all the concepts right,” he said.
Most of the colleges and tutorials in the City have completed the syllabus in December well ahead of the schedule.
Even as the students are busy revising, lecturers have a word of caution on exam related stress.
“As a majority of colleges have been giving monthly tests and have completed the syllabus in December, students should relax. They should not stay up late in the night well before the examination,” said Vice Principal of St Claret PU College Thomas Cherian. As they would have studied throughout the year, there is no need to panic at the last moment, he added.
Students should write down important topics in each of the subjects and devise a smart way to revise, said Anuradha Murthy, Chemistry lecturer at Jain PU College .
Breathing exercises and meditation can go a long way in tackling tension, she added.
