Missing Bangalore techie killed by lover’s dad?
Hyderabad: More than a month after the mysterious disappearance of a software engineer from Bangalore in the city, Cyberabad police found the remnants of the techie’s body in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Bachu Satish (24), son of autorickshaw driver Shankaraiah and native to Ramagundam in Karimnagar district, was brutally killed. He was throttled to death, his body was set on fire twice and the remains were dumped in a drain. His lover, an engineering student, is one of the five accused. Though she was questioned a couple of times, she revealed little. Two of the five accused were arrested and the others are at large.
According to the police, Satish studied MCA and was working as a software engineer at Wipro in Bangalore. He developed online friendship with a third-year student of Malla Reddy College of Engineering here, A Lavanya of Borabanda. From chatting on the Internet they moved to meeting each other often. Lavanya’s father, Yadaiah, came to know of the relationship and asked Satish to put an end to the relation.
Ten months ago Yadaiah threateningly asked Satish to stop meeting Lavanya," LB Nagar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) S Chandrasekhar Reddy said. On February 1 Satish came to the city to attend a marriage at Warangal on the following day.
"He went to his friend Mahender’s house at P&T Colony and after getting ready he left for Warangal. It was the last time he was seen by his friends and family members. After his parents came to know that he did not attend the marriage and was not coming in contact with them, they lodged a complaint of missing on February 4," the DCP said.
"With Satish not ending his friendship with the girl, her parents decided to eliminate him and forced the girl to join their operation. Coming to know that Satish was in the city, they asked Lavanya to invite him to meet her at Big Bazaar at Ameerpet. Lavanya was accompanied by her cousin, Sravan, who informed girl’s mother Manikyam of the arrival of Satish at the rendezvous. Manikyam, in turn, relayed the news to her husband Yadaiah," said Reddy.
"Yadaiah rushed to the place in a car along with a friend P Rajeshwar Goud. The duo forced Satish into the car and asked Lavanya and Sravan to return home. Satish was taken towards Mulugu and, on the way, throttled to death. They took the body to Kokkanda village where they hid it on a hillock. They went to Toopran, bought petrol and diesel, returned to the hillock and burnt the body," he said.
"After returning home, they told Lavanya and others that they had killed Satish. After two days, the two killers went back to the hillock and burnt down the remains of the body to ashes, collected the remnants in a plastic bag and dumped it in a drain pit near Qutbullapur here," the DCP said.
Police arrested Yadaiah and Goud on Thursday and recovered the remnants of Satish’s body from the drain.
A case was registered also against Lavanya also for hiding facts from the police.
Late in the night, members of Satish’s family staged a dharna in front of the police station alleging delay in the investigation. Though a complaint was lodged by him on February 4, police did not get a clue on the whereabouts of his son till the intervention of the State Human Rights Commission, Shankaraiah, father of the murdered techie, alleged. But Cyberabad police claimed that they had worked hard to crack the case.
