Kemmannu News Network, 29-03-2012 13:20:10
Mumbai:Vile Parle MLA Krishna Hegde yesterday demanded INSITU rehabilitation for the 50,000 plus houses from his Constituency affected by the Airport Modernization Program. He said over 1.5 lakh people are living in the Airport periphery for the last 40 years and that it would be grave injustice on them if they are being sent away to far off places and five star hotels come up in the area.
Hedge demanded on the spot rehabilitation for the residents and asked the Government to make monetary provision for funds under the Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana or implement SRA in the area.Hegde was speaking on the 2012-2013 Budget presented by the Finance Minister Shri Ajit Pawar on Tuesday in the Assembly.
Hedge also asked for a roll back on LPG gas cylinders and said that it would decrease the burden on lakhs of housesholds across the State.Countering BJP legislator Devendra Fadanavis allegation on Water Transport, Hegde said Mumbai’s ground reality was that Water Transport is a must for Mumbai on the lines of other international cities like Amsterdam and Venice. He said that daily over 40 lakh people travel by local trains and lakhs of cars drive down from suburbs to city. Water Transport would result in significant savings in travel time due to reduced traffic congestion and also there would be reduction in air and noise pollution. Hedge also complemented the Government for providing funds to build 3173 residential tenements for police personnel and said that MHADA has built over 600 houses for Police personnel which have still not been handed over to the them and the same should be allotted to the Police personnel quickly. Hedge was a member of the MHADA board for 4 years and during the tenure the MHADA board constructed over 12000 houses for common man in Mumbai and over 600 houses for Police personnel.
Hedge also urged the State Government to increase the Bugdet of MHADA from around Rs 2000 crores to Rs 5000 crores so that MHADA can build more affordable and good quality houses in Mumbai for the common man.Hedge also asked for a decrease in Entertainment Tax for single screen theatres across the State so that the common man can enjoy this amenity at a affordable rate. Hegde also urged the State to construct more PAPs so that important projects in Mumbai can be taken up speedily and the project affected persons can be accommodated there, presently there is a dearth of PAPs which is hampering Infrastructure projects in Mumbai.
Hegde also complemented the Government for giving a positive and surplus Budget as it covered all aspects like Infrastructure, increase in Power generation, Healthcare, subsidies for farmers, promoting Marathi culture and literature, Education and sports amongst others.
Hedge also urged the Government to speedily implement its project of 5000 CCTv camera’s for the security of Mumbai and Mumbaikars. Hedge was the first MLA to install CCTv camera’s across the Vile Parle constituency making it the first constituency in India to be covered by CCTv camera which was monitored at the local Police Station’s.
