Print To increase the pass percentage during 2012-13, the Education Department will organise ‘Shaalegaagi Naavu-Neevu’ programme in Udupi district from July 5.
The campaign aims at visiting the schools, assessing the infrastructure facilities, attendance of the students and checking the quality of education imparted in the schools.
The campaign will be held from July 5 to 31. It aims at creating awareness among the community members on Right to Education Act and also will ensure that free textbooks, uniforms distributed by the government reach the beneficiaries.
The drive will look into the implementation of mid-day meals scheme and review the progress of the students from second to tenth standard. It will also look into admitting all children who have remained outside the portal of the school back to the school.
An effort will also be made to get donations from the community, towards the development of the school.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, DDPI S Nagendra Madhyastha said that senior officials, resource persons of cluster and block resource centres will also take part. Separate teams comprising teachers and officials will be constituted to visit various schools in the district, he added.
Udupi district has 618 primary and 106 high schools. The teams will visit all the schools and will also collect information on basic infrastrtucture facilities and quality of education. If there was any lacunae, then it will be rectified, the officials said.
The team will also meet the parents, educational experts, SDMC members before visiting the school. The team which will visit high schools will have subject experts. After the drive, an action plan will be prepared to improve the quality of education and to provide basic facilities.
